Weekly lessons on WhatsApp

Your child learns to code. On WhatsApp.

Every Monday, a complete coding lesson arrives in your WhatsApp. Your child builds real projects at their own pace — and a real person personally reviews every single piece of work they send back.

  • No laptop needed for two of our three programmes
  • Personal written feedback from the founder, every week
  • Month-to-month — no contracts, no live class times

Most coding classes need a laptop, a fixed weekly time slot, and an app to install. Not every family has all three.

We built The Kids Are Coding around the one thing almost every family already has — WhatsApp.

How it works

One lesson a week. One real person reading every reply.

No app to install, no portal logins, no live classes to schedule around. The whole programme runs inside a WhatsApp chat you already know how to use.

Start this Monday
  1. Monday

The lesson lands in your WhatsApp

A complete PDF lesson, written specifically for your child's level and track. Everything they need is inside — no separate app, no login, no download links.

  2. During the week

They build at their own pace

Evenings, weekends, whatever suits your family. There's no live class to miss and no pressure to finish in one sitting.

  3. Friday

    They send their work back

A few photos of the completed work, sent over the same chat. No uploading to a portal, no separate account.

  4. Before next Monday

    William writes back — personally

Real, specific feedback on exactly what your child built. Not an automated score, not a badge — a real person who wants to see them improve.

Sipho waits for Monday mornings now. He showed his cousins the game he built and told them "I coded this myself." The feedback William sends is so personal — you can tell he actually reads every line. 09:14

We don't have a laptop and I thought that meant coding was out of reach. Aaliyah does everything on my phone and she's genuinely learning — she explained "debugging" to her granny this weekend. 🥹 19:30

Meet the founder

"This isn't an app grading your child with a badge — it's a real person who wants to see them improve, week after week."

I'm William, a Software Engineering student, and I started The Kids Are Coding because I believe every child deserves a real chance to learn to code — whether their family has a laptop or just a smartphone. I write every single lesson myself, and I personally read and respond to every piece of work a student submits. I built this programme around what I wished existed when I was learning to code: something accessible, honest, and genuinely taught by a real person.

For schools & centres

Bring coding to your whole school or centre.

We partner with schools, ECD centres and aftercare programmes to bring coding to every learner at once — without the admin of managing dozens of individual enrolments. One flat monthly rate covers your whole centre. You set your own rate for parents and keep the difference as income. We handle the content, the feedback, and the curriculum — your team just runs the sessions.

Completely fair question! I'm William, a real Software Engineering student based in Durban. You're welcome to verify me on LinkedIn or Facebook before enrolling, and I'm happy to have a phone call if that helps put your mind at ease.

No — the lesson lands on Monday and your child works through it whenever suits your family that week. There are no live classes to schedule around.

Only for the Full Coding Programme. Both the Theory Track and Little Coders Track work entirely on a phone or tablet. Not sure which fits? Try the Programme Finder.

Little Coders starts from age 5. For the Full Coding Programme and Theory Track, most students start comfortably from age 10, though motivated younger students can sometimes start earlier — just ask.

There's no fixed pace to keep up with — lessons are self-paced within the week, and if a topic needs more time, that's completely fine. William's feedback is there specifically to help with exactly that.

No problem — it's completely month-to-month with no long-term contract. Just two weeks' notice via WhatsApp.

Absolutely — we have adult students on both the Theory Track and Full Coding Programme, including some working toward a career change into software development or cybersecurity.
